The capital of the must-see state of India, Jaipur also famously known as the “ Pink city” was India’s first well planned city and today is perfect example of combination of past with present. With myriads of places to visit, the city boasts the rich and cultural heritage of India. Beautiful and well maintained forts & palaces, monkeys, camels & cows roaming on the roads freely, bustling and colourful bazaars and what not. The morning start by visiting the most photographed façade of Palace of Wind constructed around 200 years back with many lattices windows was designed to allow the ladies of harem to gaze out on the city scene below without themselves being seen, the windows facing towards the east bringing-in refreshing breeze (hawa) which kept the palace cooler in the summer months as well.
We proceed to Amber to visit its magnificent fortress, located amidst the picturesque and rocky Aravalli hills Amber is a not-to-be-missed place in Jaipur. The foundation of Amber palace was laid 400 years back by Raja Man Singh I. Beguiling beauty of the red sandstone and white marble adds to the magnificence. Scenic backdrop of the Maota Lake and panoramic views contribute to the eternal beauty of this palace. Intricate wall paintings, frescos and the use of precious gems and jewels in these paintings add to its timeless beauty. Sheesh Mahal or the ‘Palace of Mirror’ is also one of the captivating halls to visit within Amber Palace, decorated with numerous pieces of mirror, this hall was designed in such a way even a single ray entering into it can illuminate the entire hall. Later we visit exploring the lavish and well-preserved City Palace house of the former royal family of Jaipur. Here, we will find a fine collection of textiles, dresses and costumes of kings and queens and armoury.
We also make a visit to explore the intriguing Jantar Mantar- an observatory built by the founder of the city Sawai Jai Singh. This is an assembly of immense astronomical instruments, including the world’s largest sundial at 27 mts tall.
